sweat lodge ceremony ( Capanna della Purificazione)

Una delle più importanti ceremonie per gli Indiani nord Americani- Sioux Lakota.

Il ritualli capanna della purifacazione simboleggia il ritorno al grembo materno di Madre Terra, ed è una forma di purificazione sacra sia fisica che spirituale, propiziatoria per la guarigione e indispensabile per poter poi compiere qualsiasi altra ceremonia. Il sudore- causato dal calore e dal vapore dell'acqua sulle pietre-aiuta ad eliminare tossine e impurità.Le preguire,i canti sacri,il sacro Fuoco e gli spiriti della ruota di Medicina conducono, dall'interno della capanna-buia e calda-ad infiniti spazi interiori.

May 15-16 - Cumberland Plateau 9th Annual Powwow
Location: Putnam County Fairgrounds - Cookeville, TENNESSEE.
Notes: Traditional Powwow May 15-16, 2010 Saturday. May 15th 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sunday May 16th 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission: $6.00 adults and $3.00 Children 5 to 16 Children under 4 free. Seniors $3.00 All Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighters and EMS free. Head Staff: Host Drum: Red Road Singers, MC: Dave "White Wolf" Trezak, Headman: Dennis Clause, Head Lady: Lisa Brady, Head Veteran: Doc Sebring, Color/Honor Guard: UCAN and Arena Director: Michael Veal.

June 25-27- Sing to the Mountains POWWOW

Location: Meers, OKLAHOMA.
Notes: To honor our Creator from our heritage as First Nations People... All nations welcome! Saturday & Sunday: 6:30am Sunrise ceremony, followed by free time until 1pm. 1pm to 6pm Drums and Dancers 7pm to 11pm Live Bands Drums Include: Broken Walls (Canada), Jimmy Reader All Nations Drum (Oklahoma), Gray Bear Drum (Washington), Sacred Thunder (Florida), more TBA. Bands Include: Michael Jacobs, Cheryl Bear, Rainsong, Broken Walls, Jerry Chapman (Drum Speaker to the Nations), more TBA. Arts & Crafts Village: There will be vendors featuring First Nations arts and crafts from across North America. To reserve a vendor space ($20.00 fee for 10x10 plus $30 per person in booth) for the weekend, call Camp Y'Shua at 580-429-8700. (Please note: no tables or electricity will be provided - lighting is provided at the camp. Vendor sites are not considered overnight camping sites but camping is available

July 31-August 2- Wikwemikong 50th Annual Cultural Festival

Location: Wikwemikong - Ontario, CANADA

September 17-19 - Ft. Hamby PowWow
Location: Ft. Hamby State Park, 1534 S. Recreation Rd. - Wilkesboro, NORTH CAROLINA.
Notes: Educational event in cooperation with the W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir (336-921-3390). Lots of demonstrations. Traditional pow wow but does have Luck of the Draw dance money for registered dancers. Hours: Park opens at 8am. Pow Wow open Friday and Saturday 9 to 9 and Sunday 9 to 5. Admission fee to the Park is $1.00 per person and Pow Wow admission is $5.00 for Adults and $2.00 for Children. Friday is Kids Day and Children are free with the Schools
